Dressing for a Wedding
This August, my Sister is getting married! Following all the initial excitement and usual planning questions came the year long search for an outfit.
Not for her, but for me!
Year long, I tell you. Why?
A quick search of the thousands of “Wedding Guest” dresses online, and you will will discover why!
Love glad wrap? Forgot the present? you will have no trouble finding a dress that can do double duty? So flattering! Especially for my “Mummy Tummy”
Looking for something more modest? Something to cover the tuckshop lady arms? Or maybe just something you could repurpose as a christmas tree later?
Nothing says elegance more than some black chiffon AND diamantes AND some frills AND some rouching.
Maybe black is not your colour? Something a little sweeter? Like a cupcake? Or slightly reminiscent of a flamingo? Got great legs?
Nothing says sexy like some red lace. Love the sleeves! It will keep me warm? But alas it is out of stock!
A year of online browsing has had me shaking my head more than cheering. What do people wear to weddings?
I have struggled to find something that suits my body, my style and can I say age? I don’t want to look like the Mother of The Bride but I dont want to look like an eighteen year old ready for a night out on the town! It really became more about the “I don’t wants!”
- I dont want strapless
- I dont want above the knees
- I dont want black or white
- I dont want it to be too fitted
- I dont want it it to be too “Frilly/Flowery”

A small sleeve, fitted at the waist and flared at the bottom to hide all the bumps, classic but not plain or too formal, a good length, but still not 100% of the colour? It is a winter beach wedding.
So what say you?
Like it? Love it? Loathe it?
Is the black Christmas Tree better?
