Our Family’s Favourite Milo Recipes
Milo is such a part of many childhoods. Eating it straight from the tin, scraping it with a spoon off the top of icy cold milk and sprinkled on top of ice cream. I have always LOVED MILO! I have to say as a Mother not much has changed! We are big MILO drinkers (and eaters!) in our house. Everyone has their own favourite way to MILO in our family.
Little Miss A’s Favourite
MILO SMOOTHIE
Ingredients;
- Milk
- Milo
- Frozen Bananas or Berries
- 2 Raw eggs
- Ice Cream or Youghurt
Simply place all of the above ingredients in the blender and whizz away! Trust me raw eggs sounds gross but you will not taste them!
In fact this recipe has become a necessity for our fussy eater Little Miss A. On days when we have had trouble getting her to eat we blend up a milo smoothie!
This drink is packed with calcium, protein, vitamins, minerals but best of all its the perfect way to keep a little tummy full overnight and the only way we can get her to have eggs or fruit! Whatever it takes to keep her healthy and get a good nights sleep.
Master O’s Favourite
Master O has a sweet tooth from way back so when asked to choose his favourite it was a cloose tie between simply sprinkling it on top of a big bowl of ice cream and these scrumptious…
MILO ICEBLOCKS!
Ingredients
- Milk
- MILO
Yep! How simple is that! Mix the milo with the milk pour into your favourite ice block moulds and freeze. The perfect Summer after school treat!
Dad’s Favourite
The Dad of this house is on a health kick. Like many people he has found meals easy but snacks impossible! It is so hard to break the habit of a cream biscuit with your coffee! After speaking to MILO’s nutritionist she recommended this MILO Meusli Slice as a sweet way to get in some much needed fibre and nutrients.
MILO MEUSLI SLICE
I warn you this slice is MORISH! I also cut some up for Master O’s LunchBox! Im going to experiment with freezing this as it will make great on the go treats!
Mum’s Favourite
I am a simple girl and especially whilst pregnant I have been craving ice cold glasses of MILO milk! But truth be told whilst checking out some new Milo recipes I stumbled on this mouth watering recipe for a MILO dessert.
What is not to love about icecream AND Milo! This recipe looks exceptionally sweet, cold and delicious the perfect way to spend summer nights. Check out the Recipe HERE
It’s easy to sceptical that something so delicious could even remotely be good for you. I recently had the opportunity to meet with a nutritionist that works for MILO and her answers did surprise me. She was very upfront in acknowledging the assumption that MILO is full of sugar. In fact the sugar content in Milo is more about the added milk and the naturally occurring sugar in malt than added sugar.
MILO boosts the calcium of milk by 70%. So important when this generation of children are lacking in their calcium intake. Especially amongst teenage girls (and admit it Mum’s too) who fear dairy as a “fat food”
MILO also contains a whole lot of Vitamins and Minerals.
Especially for my picky eater I am unsure she would get some of these important nutrients in her food intake.
So how do you take your MILO?
