Things I Know ~ About Being a Working Mum

I usually only work two days a week, but I have taken on some overtime which means I am working full time until next Friday.  To say it is hectic is an understatement!!!

So this week it’s all about what I know as a working (outside the home) Mum.  

I know…… that when I’m always at work, progress on projects at home, happen very slowly and at very odd hours.  Remember these little beauties?

I bought a packet of self adhesive magnet strips.

I cut them to the size of the clip and stuck them on!

and now I have some cute magnetic clips for our new whiteboard!  It may be small but it’s progress!

I know……. that working full time, when you are a mother and trying to blog, is stressful, tiring and yet at the same time kind of rewarding, as each day I feel as if I have accomplished so much.

I know…… that working has made me come home and appreciate my own children on a whole new level.  Just when I thought I couldn’t love them any more, my heart melts every time they run to me and envelope me in their huge hugs at the end of the work day.

I know…… that I will always feel guilty.  But that’s ok and my kids are ok.   I am assured by the fact that they have such amazing people caring for them, they are safe, having fun and learning to cope away from the Mother!  They are learning to listen to someone elses rules and instructions.  They are learning to be independent and rely on each other at the same time!

I know….. that unless I am super organised we will have takeaway for dinner, the washing will pile up and the pantry will be empty, but we will survive.

I know….. that working allows me to get a little dressed up, drink a coffee whilst its hot, sit down and eat my lunch in one sitting, have adult conversation and not change a nappy for 6 hours.  It’s the little things!

I know…… that I have a whole new admiration for mums that work full time all the time and although I am ok with this arrangement this week, I love to work AND stay at home.  Yes, I like to have my cake AND eat it too!
