An Organised Laundry ~ The Reveal ~ Part 1

An Organised Laundry ~ The Reveal ~ Part 1

We use our laundry every day but, until now, it was one of the most poorly organised rooms in our house.  It is a difficult space to work with and I lacked both inspiration and motivation to change it.  Then this week it was “Laundry Week” over at a Bowl Full of Lemons, so I seized the amazing timing (school holidays) and approached the task armed with a cyberspace full of inspiration.

We finally had an idea……

Take One Ikea Expedit Unit, avoid arguments with husband over yet another trip to IKEA and yet another flat pack to assemble!  (For what it is worth the Expedit is one of the easiest Ikea products to assemble!)

now sort and organise your items into categories and “containerise” them in some $10 plastic baskets from Woolworths and the result is……

We have a new space efficient, organised and nice to look at laundry space!

The baskets are my new favourite storage item and are in with the Storage Containers at Woolworths!  Yes Woolworths!  They are hard to track down and I had to go to a few stores to get this many! They are made form plastic but are quite sturdy and durable.  More importantly they are the exact size I was looking for!  Big enough to fill each space but small enough to see what is in them.

From top to bottom they hold;

Swimwear (up high to stop my little fashionista changing into three pairs a day!)

Stain Removal (Sunlight soap, toothbrushes etc)

Ironing and Drying (Lint removers, dryer sheets etc)

Cat Products (Kitty Litter, Cat food)

Hats

I used some tins (On the top shelf) that I already had for

Washing powder (on the left, purchased form Aldi) and

Soaker (on the right, a biscuit tin from Kmart)

Remember what this space looked like before?

We have suddenly gained so much more usable space that I had to find things to go in a basket!!!  It is neat and tidy for the visitors that walk past it and just calling out for some cute labels!

But the job is not finished!  I now want to rearrange a few other things in the laundry, organise the cupboard, add a drying rack and of course a few decorative touches!

So what do you think, what next?
